What skills did you gain that you found to be advantageous from being part of the group?
I obviously gained a genuine interest in research. I also found that I am interested in I/O issues that are relevant to all fields, including public health. At Brookdale I'm working on a project about the healthcare workforce shortage, and I am always looking for more projects involving workforce issues.
What have you been doing since you graduated?
After I graduated college with a BA in Psychology in 2003, I got a Masters in Public Health from Brooklyn College (City University of New York) in 2005. My work concentrated in Community Health. Throughout graduate school, I interned in various departments at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). I wanted to explore various areas of public health (and just as broad as Psychology, if not more). I worked in the Office of the Chief of Staff, during which the DOHMH launched its Take Care New York health policy initiative. I also worked at the Bureau of Injury Epidemiology, researching the incidence of injuries such as domestic violence, elder aduse, falls, burns, and more throught the city.
What are you doing now?
I am currently working as Project Manager of the Research Core at the Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging and Longevity of Hunter College (also part of City University of New York). I've been here since September 2005.
