Dr. Jack Aiello is a professor of Psychology at Rutgers - The State University of New Jersey. At Rutgers, he is also a member of the Graduate Faculty in the Industrial Relations and Human Resources Program and has contributed to the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology's Program in Organizational Psychology. Jack has over 35 years of experience consulting with organizations.


Jack combines an academic career with consulting assignments with a number of major U.S. corporations. For example, in his ten year consulting relationship with AT&T and Bell Telephone Laboratories, Jack developed and presented numerous programs, including the Emerging Leaders, Quality of Worklife, Executive Development, and Business Skill Development Programs (such as Effective Listening, Problem-solving and Creativity, Conductive Effective Meetings, and Time Management). As the regional consultant to State Farm Insurance's seven state Northeastern region for seven years, Jack worked with all aspects of human resources and management development, was counsel to division/senior management, oversaw and developed company training programs, and facilitated the annual employee attitude survey and follow-through. During the past 15 years he has collaborated with Roosevelt Thomas, The American Institute for Managing Diversity, the Sable Group and K. Iwata Associates to develop and deliver numerous Diversity programs and consultation to organizations. Other recent clients include: Aon Corp, Aventis Pharmaceuticals, Bell Communications Research, Dell Computer Corporation, Eastman Kodak, General Motors, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Johnson and Johnson, Mediamark Research, Perkin-Elmer Corporation, and Rockwell International.


From his early work in the 1970s with Scanlon Plan (profit sharing) organizations like Herman Miller and Wolverine Worldwide, to his 2 year assignment rolling out Total Quality Managenemt to the million members of the Navy and its suppliers, to his consultation on succession planning with small to medium size family-owned companies, Jack has been a pioneer in helping organizations become more productive and healthier places to work.  Jack has also been involved in employee selection and testing. He has worked extensively with The Personnel Lab during the past 15 years and during the past 3 years Jack has worked with Local 580 AJEF (Ornamental Iron Workers Union) in the selection of their apprenticeship classes. He has offered workshops for the Rutgers Center for Management Development, recently offering the workshop, "Dealing with the troubled employee."  Jack also has developed Programs on stress and change management and been an expert witness testifying on cases involving privacy, survillance and stress. Having worked with IBM in the early 1990s on their telework iniative, Jack recently helped ImpactRx transition its Research Operations department to a virtual office.

An active researcher, Dr. Aiello has published more than 60 articles and book chapters and has given more than 300 invited addresses at professional meetings and business organizations. In 1992 and 1993 he was a U.S. Navy-ASEE distinguished faculty fellow in the Organizational Systems department of the Navy Personnel and Research Development Center in San Diego. Dr. Aiello`s work in the areas of leadership, team development, stress and stress management, diversity, culture and communication, gender, feedback, organizational change, and the impact of new technologies in the workplace has been recognized by his election to fellow status in the American Psychological Association, American Psychological Society, and the American Association of Applied and Preventative Psychology. 

Dr. Aiello received his Ph.D. in Social and Organizational Psychology from Michigan State University. He also holds a Masters degree in Communication from Queens College and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the City College of New York.
